735’ River Crossing in Lucasville, OH
After a failed attempt by a previous HDD Contractor, ClearPath was contacted by the General Contractor to view and evaluate the prospect of completing the Scioto River Crossing Project in Lucasville. The previous contractor had encountered limestone at the onset of drilling and was unable to maintain proper steer. Setup area was also limited with approximately 190’ from the edge of pavement to the edge of river with an approximate 18’ of fall within the first 100’ and an additional 22’ of fall to the edge of the river. The river was approximately 425’ wide at the crossing.
While on site, ClearPath gathered the topographical information for the project and incorporated the use of Vermeer’s Atlas Bore Planner to provide a proposed bore path. This measure insured that the minimum depth requirements at each of the critical points were met. It also insured proper readings while locating as it eliminated extreme depths in the center of the bore.
